Resident Engineer (Civil/ Coastal) in Pacific
We have been engaged by the Republic of Marshall Islands as the Designer to deliver the Ebeye Coastal Protection Engineering Design and Construction Supervision project. The final design is a rock revetment structure on the eastern coast of Ebeye. We are advertising for a Resident Engineer contract role which is required for the duration of the construction stage. Key focus areas for this role will be:
– Carrying out daily supervision and quality assurance activities of civil works and equipment installations.
– Reviewing and providing commentary on Contractor submissions such as work plans and as-built drawings.
– Providing direct support to the Client in delivery of the project and reporting of progress to the government and the funding agency.
– Identifying and proposing solutions to mitigate or prevent impediments related to construction, equipment installation, quality of works, and other issues as they arise (with direct support from the RHDHV project team as required).
– Assisting the Client and contractor in phasing civil works and installation activities to deliver the project in a timely fashion.
– Overseeing project coordination, including but not limited to managing payment claims, expenses, reporting, training and works certifications.
To be successful in this role, you will have highly effective project management and project delivery skills and be able to provide direction and advice on project delivery matters. You will have at least several years’ experience in contract management and site supervision, with previous project experience in coastal construction works. If you have previous experience working in the Pacific Islands or experience with FIDIC contract administration, that will be highly regarded.
Conditions:
The role requires residing in Ebeye (Marshall Islands) for the full construction stage (approximately 12-16 months), beginning ASAP. Allowance will be made for return trips, public holidays, annual leave and personal leave – to be discussed and agreed. The role requires a minimum onsite commitment of 3 months then 2 weeks off, but we are flexible if you prefer longer stints and less leave.
